I had the opportunity to travel a ways south (Santa Cruz, CA) yesterday to photograph the bar mitzvah of a delightful young man named Amir. Amir and his family lived in Israel for some time, and many of their extended family are from there. This was my first time at Temple Beth El, and I was enchanted by their hospitality, inclusivity, and “ruach” (spirit in Hebrew). Here are some photos from the morning service.
Many thanks to Amir’s family for including me in their simcha!
